So, Spats. Yay or Nay?
OK. They're not quite stockings, not exactly socks, not really leg warmers - but the fashion industry believes in the functionality of the new spats. The idea is that they allow you to continue wearing your favorite warm weather shoes into the winter because they keep your ankles cozy or even add warmth to your boots. Now by my estimation, we've had about a year to snuggle up to the throwback trend that turns your little brother's marching band spats into those cuddly creations. So, how is that going? Are you ready to dip your toe into this season's oceans of knit, crochet, or brocade spats?

Crystal Renn in The Guardian
Crystal Renn is arguably the most well-known plus-size model right now. Of course, we all know by now what the fashion industry considers "plus". And Renn has been very open in talking about suffering from anorexia early in her career to maintain a super skinny figure. But here is Renn now looking fit, healthy and gorgeous in a spread for The Guardian:
Throughout the entire piece there is no mention of her size. In our opinion, it has to be a step forward when a mainstream publication gives several pages to an article featuring pictures of a lovely model without having to apologize (or worse, pat themselves on the back) for her measurements. But fashion politics aside (or maybe not!), what do you think of the pictures?!
Seasonal Delights for Bathing Beauties
Is everyone ready for the mad dash of the holidays??? Yeah, me neither. It's OK, though, because this year we're all going to build-in some "me time" between tasks, right? With that in mind, let's take a look at some products aimed at bathing you in holiday cheer.

Shoes of the Week: Lace-Up Booties
Booties are all the rage right right. But, as many of you know, a lot of them just don't make sense to me weatherwise. For example, if it's cold enough to wear booties, why would I want my toes out? I've really had to talk myself into enjoying fashion-for-the-sake-of-fashion where some of these shoes are concerned. But here are some booties, I don't have to talk myself into even though they expose a little skin: The To-And-Fro lace up booties by Anthropologie. Leather uppers, zigzag laces, and a back zip. Lurve. Take a look and tell me what you think!

It's entirely possible this post will hurt our chances for being considered a most serious fashion blog. We're OK with that. The fact is, there are LOTS of Twilight/New Moon fans out there of all ages - whether undercover or not. *winkie, winkie* And how could we resist telling you that curvy girls who are fans of the vampire/werewolf series can now display their fandom, thanks to several choice items being carried by Torrid.com? You can even dress like "Bella".

The Hello Kitty Red Bull Necklace: Yea or Nay?
Some days we're deep, other days we're just "OMG, look at this!" Today's post falls in the second category. It's easy to be proud of designers who make art from recycled items, like aluminum soda cans. Some of these pieces are wearable and some aren't. So what do you think of this Hello Kitty Red Bull necklace by Funky Junq?
Need Wide Calf Boots?
How many times have you tried on a really gorgeous pair of boots only to find that you can't zip them all the way up? So crushing. But we're happy to see that lots of companies are rolling out some practical - and stylish - boots with extended calf sizes. Right now, Silhouettes has some astonishingly trend-worthy wide-calf boots on sale. No, really. We were a little shocked. These are NOT your mom's boots.
