How many times have you tried on a really gorgeous pair of boots only to find that you can't zip them all the way up? So crushing. But we're happy to see that lots of companies are rolling out some practical - and stylish - boots with extended calf sizes. Right now, Silhouettes has some astonishingly trend-worthy wide-calf boots on sale. No, really. We were a little shocked. These are NOT your mom's boots.

wow those button boots are so cute!!!!!
There is this store called Gabriel Brothers , I don't know how many there are or where they all are,but there is definitely a few throughout the northeast US. I go there to get DESIGNER shoes and boots, and I usually spend less than $20 a pair! Once I literally got a pair of boots for 16$,that were marked as retail price 249$.
Silhouettes is about the only place to get good quality boots for wide calfs that zip. They just don't have any cute kitten heel or taller slim heels this year I prefer, or an interesting colors this year. I need to replace an off white pair I purchased 3 years ago that were perfect. Last year I bought from Jessica London 2 styles they currently have this year as well. One I thought made my leg look like a sausage in them, so I sold them to a relative (I hate s&h and return s&h especially). The other fit perfect around calf, but the Wide width shoe was not wide at all. It was cutting off my circulation!!! I returned those.
Cute boots! I have a tough size to find in stylish shoes (10.5 wide) and have had great luck with David Tate boots, as far as wide calf boots go. Zappos seems to have the best variety. Just got a cute pair of black leather boots (hit just below the knee, and no problem zipping the whole way).
too bad Silhouettes boots will only wrap around a 17" calf....a lot of larger woman (myself included) would not be able to find anything there. If you can afford just under $200 bucks, check out www.aylaboots.com. They will accommodate up to a size 18". After that, you will have to custom order for almost another $100. Jessica London offers boots up to a size 20" calf and so does Torrid.

a brand called fitzwell from zappos.com is my best bet. i have two pairs of boots (same style, different color) that fit my 18.5" calves. i love zappos because of the convenience with shipping and returns. even though they are a little more expensive, they are worth it in the long run.
